Welcome! Young Alumni is a blog about my wanderings and explorations in the passage between college and career. It's about learning to live simply and purposefully in the real world, and I'm glad to share it with you.

important life lessons from emerson and kensey bear

i am a taskmaster.  give me twenty things to do and i can accomplish them better than if i had one project to focus on. i attribute this to the genius of high school planners.

everything i know about the serious art of list-making stems from a planner and 2nd period chemistry.  if it weren’t for those 3X6 school board issued bundles of entertainment i would never have made it through without falling asleep.   (i also would never have perfected my squid and octopus drawings but that’s a separate issue.)

i keep a planner to this day.

i found this little gem on etsy.  modern technology does a great job with calendars but nothing will ever tear me away from the pen and paper method of managing my life.

this is not to say that i don’t get overwhelmed.  there are days when i come home and would like nothing more then to put my neatly organized to-do lists right into the garbage disposal.

so today, for my fellow working young alumni who need a good lesson in relaxation, i give you - a moment with kensey bear.

  and breathe.
