Welcome! Young Alumni is a blog about my wanderings and explorations in the passage between college and career. It's about learning to live simply and purposefully in the real world, and I'm glad to share it with you.

hey, lets cross the sea and get some culture.

when i was a senior in college, the only thing on my mind was finding a way to see the world the second i graduated.  conveniently, the trip of my dreams fell into my lap in the form of an email from my student alumni association. eleven european countries in 25 days.

i did not know one soul on the trip but i wasn’t about to let that stop me. i signed up almost immediately.   there is a degree of perspective that you attain by placing yourself completely outside of your comfort zone. it is an illuminating experience i recommend to anyone and everyone.

my only true concern was the safety and preservation of my things.  the possibility of losing my passport when we would be crossing a boarder nearly every day simply would not do. i determined that i would need a safe bag. enter, a sewing frenzy and my homemade world traveler backpack!

with covered zippers, a protective snap over the front pocket, and additional security and space for the inside pocket, i had no trouble at all feeling safe and secure while seeing the world.  the bird is a called a martlet, a fantastic creature said to have no legs so that it must constantly be in flight. it is featured on my family crest, and could not have been more appropriate of a symbol during my 25 days of non-stop travel.

take a peek at my AMAZING  journey through my WordPress blog, and be on the lookout for pictures from my trip in posts to come!
